#1 - Steve and Pam Swapp

Pasted Graphicseve
How did you meet?
Steve and I met at a Calvary Chapel Christian Singles retreat in Colo. (Yes it does happen!) But there is an amazing story behind how we got there. I worked in a remote Colorado town with a population of 900 at the most and went to the Colorado Springs Calvary retreat with friends. Steve had never flown on an airplane but had driven a car to Colorado for a roommate who he had met through the Murrieta Bible School in CA. His friend treated him to this retreat for driving the car to Colorado for him. At the retreat, Steve was playing Ping Pong and I came down to challenge the winner. Steve gave his friend the evil eye saying ‘You better make sure I am the winner of this game…so I can play her…’

How did you propose?
Steve proposed on one knee on a dock in Newport Harbor…”Will you marry me and be the mother of our kids?” (Little did we know that would span 20 years of birthing!!)

What's your anniversary?
August 18th.

Where did you honeymoon?
We were married in Colorado, and spent our first night in a Mountain Cabin by a river. Then we flew to LA to drive up the coast to San Luis Obispo and Monterey Bay. (We rode 3 wheelers/Quads on the beach)

How long have you been married?
26 years this summer, we were going to try to go to Hawaii for the first time for our 25th but we had two daughters get married that year so it was put aside again!

Do you have any kids? If so, what are their names and ages?
Denae 24, Harmony 21, Misty 17, Rachel 13, and then came Brandon 3! (We had Brandon’s name tucked away since we had our first girl 24 years ago!)

What are your occupations?
Steve-Outside Sales for a building company
Pam- full time wife and mom and part time San Diego Area Director for AuPairCare, overseeing 30 Host Families and 30 au pairs from over 13 different Countries.

After getting married where have you lived? (Countries, states, cities, etc.)
We lived in 7 different homes around Orange County, before we were able to buy our first home in Oceanside about 9 years ago.

How long have you been saved?
Steve- since he was 22 at a Saturday night concert at Calvary Costa Mesa with Randy Ziggler or Jimmy Kepner.
Pam- as a 5
th grader I had a 6th grade friend lead me in the sinner’s prayer.

How long have you attended CC Vista?
About 8 years.

What activities do you enjoy doing together?
We like all kinds of water activities like jet skiing, boating, waterskiing, and going to the beach and boogie boarding. We also like dirt bike riding. We love going out to eat Sushi at Repongi in La Jolla or our favorite salad at Sammy’s Woodfire Grill.

What do you love about your spouse?
Steve: “Her stick to-it-ness” with a much larger family than we had imagined.
Pam-I love his willingness to have fun with his family and to always work hard to provide for us!

Is there a scripture that is special to you both, and why?
“The kings heart is in the hand of the Lord, He directs it like a water course which ever way he will” Proverbs 21:1
We have experienced God’s favor and plan for us along all of life’s avenues. This scripture constantly reassures us that nothing escapes his eye, and He goes before us!!

What's your favorite weekend get away location?
What’s that?? We would love to just get away, even 10 miles from here is OK, as long as it’s by ourselves….a season for everything
